EZ Piano Method

EZ Lesson 11

Chords are groups of three or more notes, played at the same time.
I will explain how chords are constructed, later in the course, but for now, I will show you some basic chords and how to play and use them.

The C Major chord.

This chord consists of the notes C, E and G, played with the Left Hand, as shown.
In music notation it looks like this...
And sounds like this....

C Major chord
Here is a simple exercise using the C Major chord and a mixture of note types
Listen to the audio, which has a four beat count in to give you the timing before you play the first chord

Did you notice the chord in bar number three?
The Half notes each have a small dot next to them.

A half note with a dot after it (a dotted Half note) is held for three counts, and not two, as a normal half note would be.

I will explain all about 'Dotted Notes' in a later lesson, but for now, just remember to hold the chord for three counts, as in the audio.
